CSP 141a: Torture Matthew (part 1 of 2) – Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

It’s part two of the Torture Us trilogy, a series of episodes where we’ve hand-picked a pair of films for each host specifically designed to make them hate life as much as possible.

After 2013’s mean-spirited and dreary Man of Steel, Matthew had no further interest in the DC Cinematic Universe. So how better to torture him than with a pair of films from that universe, films which seemed specifically designed to double-down on the elements of Man of Steel Matthew found so distasteful?

This episode went long, so we split it in two: today’s discussion covers Zack Snyder’s magnum opus Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and tomorrow’s conclusion includes our discussion of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad.
